Today was one of those days where I was counting down the minutes until bedtime. WHEW. Vada wasn't even really being whiney or anything, but sometimes after a million days in a row of nonstop baby baby baby, I am just ready to sit alone in silence for a little while.
I was getting so antsy this afternoon watching the clock, I decided we needed to just get out of the house (again... we had already gone out twice.) So, we put on our coats and took a walk down to the Grandin area. For those of you reading this who don't live in Roanoke, a few blocks down from my house is "The Historical Grandin Village," which has a bunch of fun little places to visit: The Grandin Theatre, Natural Foods Co-Op, a yoga place, a dance studio, a used book store, Pop's Ice Cream and Soda Bar, Viva La Cupcake, a few other restaurants and bars, etc... It's awesome. I love my neighborhood.
A new boutique just opened on Grandin called Urban Gypsy, so we went in there for the first time, and I was really impressed! They had a bunch of really pretty dresses that I would love to wear (if I had anywhere to wear them) and a lot of other cute stuff. (Very reasonably priced, too.) They literally just opened, so I can't wait to see what else they will start to carry as their business grows. Unfortunately, Vada didn't really feel like shopping, so I couldn't spend as much time in there as I wanted to, but I did get a really nice smelling soy candle, which I am burning right now.
After that, we continued on to Cups, where I got a small decaf, and then we headed over to the park. It could have been the shopping, the coffee, the nice walk out in the brisk air, or most likely a combination of all three, but by this time I was feeling much better. So when I managed to spill coffee all over myself (while swinging on the swing...) I just laughed it off. (It's not a good idea to drink while swinging.)
Vada decided it was time to go, so we walked home, I fed her dinner, vacuumed, gave her a bath and put her to bed. THEN... Since we have countertops now and I was feeling a little saucy, I made myself dinner on the stove for the first time in MONTHS. Well, really I just boiled some pasta, but still. It was delicious.
That's wine in a mug, too. Pretty fancy, right? Now, since I might as well go all out, I'm going to use the oven too and bake some cookies. YEA! (With the prepackaged dough stuff since we still don't have the sink hooked up.)
But before I go, I would like to present to you this picture of me browsing the internet. If you follow me on Twitter, you may have already seen it, but I really think it captures my true essence...
...I'm obviously a very happy-go-lucky person. :) JK I took it to do the virtual try-on thing at Warby Parker since they never have any frames available for home try-on. I think I like the Roosevelts best. Maybe I'll just order them.
Anyway, I love you.
