Apparently, the ocular migraine that I had last week was actually a real migraine, because my head hasn't stopped hurting since then. The pain comes in waves. Sometimes I'll be ok, but other times I'll have to lay down for a little while. It seems like the more active I get, the worse the headache gets. I tried taking Extra Strength Tylenol and Advil Liqui-Gels and they didn't help it at all.
flickr. it's wednesday, right? gpoyw! this is my headache face.
This morning, headache day six, I went to the doctor to find out what the hell is going on with me and he verified that it is a migraine most likely caused by the NuvaRing, which I just started using again last month. Stupid birth control. The only reason I even started using it was to try to balance out my anxiety. (It didn't work.) I'm not sure why it gave me this migraine though, since I've used it in the past with no side effects at all. Doc said that the majority of people he sees with migraines are women on birth control. The majority of strokes in young women happen to those who smoke and take birth control. And the majority of strokes in older women happen to those who take hormone altering drugs for menopause, similar to birth control. Cool! Definitely not taking birth control again.
He gave me some a prescription for some pain medicine that I'm going to pick up after Vada wakes up from her nap, which should get rid of this headache once and for all. He talked about other types of migraine treatments, but since I've only had one, which was most likely caused by the birth control, I am not yet considered a true migraine sufferer. Hopefully I will never have one again, because it SUCKS.
I always thought people with migraines were just whiners trying to get out of work. Messed up, huh? I guess you get desensitized when you're the manager of a staff of 50+ douchebag college kids lying to you all the time calling in sick.
Oh yea, and the worst part of it all - the nurse measured my height and I'm only 5'4½". I thought I was at LEAST 5'5"...
